This is the third installment of our weekly gossip (p)review column, Gossip Watchers. When we started Whitney Houston had just passed-on and the world was mourning, and today as I sit here, she has been buried in New Jersey, USA.
This week we start-off with Sello Maake kaNcube (ja, that one, the actor from e.tv’s Scandal), who shall be followed by Whitney Houston’s family, Simphiwe Dana’s illicit sexual relationship, and Kim Kardashian cheating.
Before we start let us have a moment of silence for late footballer, Thabang “Chillies” “Banda” Lebese. May his soul rest in peace. His family is reportedly accusing Gauteng health of negligence, we will update you- if the need arises.
Sello Maake kaNcube is launching an acting school before the end of next month (March), a goat just whispered into our ear. KaNcube saw it proper to accuse Generations of being boring in an interview with Sowetan just to gain some publicity for his school, this Gossip Watcher is very convinced that this is the case. He reportedly said the following during the interview: “Till this day people stop me and ask me why I left Generations, and how, now that I am no longer there, they somehow find the soapie boring,”. Now really, Sello? And please tell us, did you leave Generations or were you written out (a nicer way of saying you were fired) of the soapie ?
Whitney Houston’s family is said to be worried that ‘grave thieves’ may steal their daughter’s jewellery from her coffin. US’s National Enquirer published an open casket photo of Whitney Houston wearing her jewels and claimed it is worth $500 000 (that is: R3,797,011.52 according to Sunday, 26 Feb. 2012 exchange rates). It was very unjournalistic of the National Enquirer to report as it did. But it is also not commendable of the Houston family to bury their daughter with that much worth of jewellery (I mean she is not going to be enjoying wearing them, is she?).
Simphiwe Dana (who became famous for singing a song titled “Ndiredi”) has confessed to having sex with a married man in an interview with City Press. She told the paper: “I fell in love. I didn’t plan it and neither did he, but it happened. Yes, I feel guilty for hurting people, but my problem is being criminalised for falling in love.” She went on to say her father was a serial womaniser (we simplified the term, she actually called her father a “serial philanderer”) and she doesn’t want to put any woman “through that”. We hate to tell you this Simphiwe, but you already have. Maybe she is publicity-hungry, and then again, maybe she is not.
In a tell-all book, singer Ray J reportedly writes about his former girlfriend and 2003 sex-tape co-actor Kim Kardashian. Kim has allegedly cheated on her then husband Damon Thomas and also cheated on Ray J after her divorce from Thomas. Ray J says he also cheated on her during the cause of their relationship. “For years KK and I had a great sex life. There was more to our relationship, but the majority of it was about our wild and extreme sexual chemistry. She was a straight freak who was down to do whatever, whenever and that seriously hypnotized me,” Ray J writes in the book – titled Death of a Cheating Man: What Every Woman Must Know About Men Who Stray.
Talk about using other people to seek publicity for your own good.
That is the short of it for this week folks.
