Police confiscates R24 million worth of cocaine

Western Cape police have confiscated a container transporting cocaine estiamted to have a street value of R24 million at Cape Town harbour yesterday.

Captain FC van Wyk of the Western Cape SAPS says their crime intelligence unit followed up on information regarding the transporting of cocaine in a container at Cape Town harbour at about 12:00 noon on Monday.

The container that was destined for a cold storage company in Montague Gardens, Cape Town was intercepted and searched. The members found loads of frozen products destined to be produced into animal food, as well as a black sports bag containing 20 blocks of pure cocaine,” says Van Wyk.

The police say their preliminary investigations revealed that the drugs were transported from South America. Despite the confiscation no arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
