Angela “Lagija” Dlamini, Swaziland’s King Mswati’s 6th wife, has left Mswati following years of abuse from her polygomous husband, says Swaziland Solidarity Network (SSN) in a statement released today.
Dlamini apparently initially pretended she was packing her bags to visit her parents in Hhohho but, according to SSN, she disappeared and is believed to be with relatives in Mkhuzweni. “She left the royal household last night (Saturday, 5 May), citing many years of emotional and physical abuse by
her husband as the reason for her departure,” says the statement.
The South Africa-exiled SNN cited a royal guard who confirmed Dlamini has been unhappy for a ‘long time’. “A royal guard revealed that Angela had been unhappy for a long time and had actually thought of leaving her husband for many years. She finally packed her bags for good last night, initially pretending to be visiting her parental home in Hhohho. From there she disappeared and is believed to be with relatives somewhere in Mkhuzweni”.
Dlamini is the third wife to leave the monarch. Other wives who left the king includes Delisa “LaMagwaza” Magwaza and Putsoana “LaHwala” Hwala.
