A 45-year-old Madadeni serial rapist, Muziwami Zwane, has been sentenced to three life sentences for rape and fifteen more years for assault and kidnapping by the Madadeni Regional Court in Newcastle, last Thursday. According to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, Zwane has been convicted of raping three women on separate occasions in 2019.
“On Saturday, 02 November 2019, Zwane lured a victim, who was 40 years old at the time from a tavern to his house at Section 2 in Madadeni. He locked the door and dragged her to his bedroom where he raped her repeatedly. He imprisoned the victim until she managed to escape on the third day,” says Col. Netshiunda.
A day following the escape of his victim, Zwane lured his then 27-year-old ex-girlfriend to his home on the pretence that he just wishes to have a drink with her. He proceeded to kidnap and rape her overnight, and later strangle and assault her. In May of the same year, he had lured, kidnapped and raped a then 29-year-old victim over three days.
